General Safety Rules 2017

  • Window nets- Full window nets. If doors are removed, full enclosed door nets which are easily removable. A steel structure must secure the nets. No bungee cords. (17)
  • Latches for window nets – A quick release or seat belt latch located on top, inside corner of truck.
  • Brakes- All vehicles must have enough brakes to hold under strain or stop test for standard vehicles, at the discretion of the safety officer.
  • Scatter shields – Blanket or steel bell housing or flex plate shield is mandatory for all Prostock and Modified vehicles. Other classes optional but recommended. Must cover bell-housing area and be SFI approved (outdated is OK), not homemade.
  • Windshields –   Full factory OEM windshields and OEM steel firewall is recommended, if not present, then the driver and navigator must wear DOT full faced helmets with visor down or a full faced fire retardant balaclava and goggles and a 3-2A/1 rated fire suit (SFI approved). (17)
  • Firewalls – A metal firewall is mandatory.
  • Fire Extinguishers- must be present in each vehicle and within reach of driver and navigator. Must be fully charged with a gauge and easily detachable (No duct tape).
  • Helmets & Neck braces – Full face helmets and SFI neck braces are mandatory for all classes. Each participant must have their own at the start line or they will not be able to run. No open faced helmets allowed.(16)
  • Seat belts or harnesses must be worn – Minimum of 4 – point harness is mandatory in all WORR points trucks, unless a class states otherwise. (17)
  • Roll bars – All points trucks must have a minimum 4 point cage (including a halo over driver/navigator, two front down bars and a rear hoop with an X behind driver/navigator) tied to the frame. Acceptable thickness .120 wall DOM tubing or .1875 wall schedule 40 with a minimum size of 1 ½ ID. (17)
  • Fuel cells – Aftermarket fuel cells / systems should be roll over secure (no ratchet straps) and properly vented at the discretion of Safety/Tech guys.
  • Batteries – must be roll over secure (no ratchet straps).
  • Tailgates & Lift gates are not required, applies to all classes. (17)
  • Tow hooks- all classes are required to have tow hooks/loops, front and rear.
  • All fiber glass caps can be removed for safety.
  • Transmissions must have a covering.
  • Roof covered in – All vehicles are to have the roof covered in solid metal (min. 18 gauge).(16)
  • Modifications to any vehicle to accommodate safety issues are allowed. Ex: fuel cells.
  • Flat tires- You may finish a course on a flat tire without being disqualified
  • Roll overs – If a vehicle should roll over, it must be re-teched before running again. Should the vehicle land back on its wheels and can be started again (within 10 seconds), you may continue your run and vehicle will be re-teched before next run.(16)
  • Drive shaft loops – All points trucks in all classes must have 1 loop towards the front per drive shaft. No chains. Must be made of steel construction. (17)
  • No spectators allowed on the track.
  • Disconnect switch- Mounted within reach of driver/navigator on all points trucks above Superstock. (17)
  • Fuel Injection/ Spacer Plates- No spacer plates for fuel injection engines only. Maximum 1” spacer plate for carbureted engines only. (17)
  • Newcomers One Time Only- Must have a full factory steel constructed body 6 pillar or roll bar to the frame, to the discretion of the tech. This will be for 1 event only. All other rules will stand. (17)
  • Diesels – will only be permitted to run in the Superstock class
  • Photographers/Videographers – Designated ones are the only ones to be allowed on the track at all times. Waiver must be signed and safety vests must be worn.(17) 

 

 

Registration and Tech

  • Registration – closes 1 hour prior to the race schedule start time. NO EXCEPTIONS! (17)
  • Registration fees – $100 for full weekend of racing, drags and slalom. Driver and 1 navigator only. If driver or navigator provides proof that they paid a gate fee that money will be reimbursed from the gate money. No refunds. 70% for payout, 15% to WORR, 15% to hosting club. Of the 70% payout. (1st place – 50%, 2nd place – 30% and 3rd place – 20%) (16)
  • Anyone under the age of 16 will not be allowed in a race vehicle (applies to when the vehicle is racing). Proof of age may be requested.
  • Switching vehicles – There will be no switching vehicles once registered for the season. Only exception is if a vehicle is wrote off you can bring in another vehicle in the same class and transfer your registered # and points to this vehicle. *Must stay in same class.
  • You may only register a vehicle in one class and will remain in that class all season. At some events bumping may be permitted at the discretion of the hosting club.
  • Tow/Race vehicle- driver and 1 person will be reimbursed for gate pass upon registering the race truck, both must be present at time of registration. No exceptions.
  • Bumping is permitted only up one class to the next class where vehicle meets class rules. (At discretion of the hosting club) (15)
  • Truck #s – Points runners are to display their registered # at the top right corner, highly visible permanently affixed. This is a part of tech and will be enforced. Non-point runner’s #s will be given at event registration. All point runner #s will be whole numbers from 1-100. See Libbie Misner for pre-registering a # for your vehicle, there will be a registration fee of $10, to register for a point runner #. This is payable to Libbie Misner on or prior to the first event. (16)
  • Tech is mandatory at each event – Tech will all be done UP AT, AND BEFORE Only the vacuum check will be done before their class runs. There will be appointed Tech/Safety guys (Brian Misner, Jens Wagner and Vern Uhlman – Spencer Gammond as a backup) who will attend each event. If 1 of the Tech guys cannot make it to an event, it’s his responsibility to get a replacement. (17)
  • Tech and Safety men are to make the decision on whether or not a vehicle can run and in which class they are to run in. They will have final say and are not to be overruled by the hosting club.
  • Re-Tech- starter or officials may request to have a vehicle re-teched at any time.
  • Major Sponsor decals – All registered vehicles must have a decal from the major WORR sponsor on their vehicle to race. (15)

 

 

Points

  • Points will only be awarded in your registered class at the beginning of the season.
  • Slalom times – all 4 slalom times will count for points. (17)
  • No Show – If a race vehicle does not register and pass tech at each event, your points for that event (drags & slalom each), will be the total of number of registered trucks in your class at the beginning of the year +1, per event. (17)
  • No finish at an event will result in last place points.
  • Must make a full stop at the end of slalom run, before entering pit area. If you fail to come to a complete stop then it will result in a one stake penalty (2 seconds). Hosting club must provide a stop sign and have placed at finish line.
  • Points will be calculated each day for drags and both slalom runs. (To determine the trucks positions for that weekend). Ties will not be broken at the end of an event and payouts will be divided evenly. In the event of a tie at the end of the season, ties will be broken by how many 1st place finishes, drags and slalom, each person has. (17)
  • Stakes – will result in a 2 second penalty. Stake must completely fall to result in a penalty. Stakes must be at least 2 ft. high and have to be painted orange or red at least 6 inch on top and highly visible. Cannot use hay bales, tires, pylons etc. in place of stakes.

  

Stadium Style Drags and Slalom General Rules

  • A representative from the hosting club must be at the start line of the drags and slalom to help with windows being rolled up, etc. This must be enforced. This does not mean the light tree operator.
  • All drag trees are to be set up the same way. The starting grid is decided by random draw.
  • Drag track is to be 200ft long by at least 60ft wide with a minimum of 200ft shutdown area. They can widen the track at any event only at the discretion of the safety committee.
  • Stadium style drag track – Double elimination. The track, from the start line to the first corner must be exactly the same. (17)
  • Two minute timer is started once the first truck is staged and has activated the stage light. Once the two minutes are up, the staged truck will get a bye run.
  • The slalom and drags will run in the following order; 4&6 cyl stock, 8 cyl stock, ProLite, Super stock, Prostock, Modified. Both runs will be in the same order.
  • Start line – A fire extinguisher must be at the start line at all times: Vehicles must start out in 4 wheel drive for both drags and slalom, this will be at the discretion of the track officials. If the vehicle slips into 2 wheel drive during run it will be re-teched. If this was due to mechanical failure your time will stand, if it is determined that this was intentional your time will be disqualified. (17)
  • Each participant gets the same number of runs, regardless if they are points trucks or not.
  • Slalom start line– after staged, as soon as your wheels move the timer is activated.
  • Walk around is led by host club around the slalom course immediately after drivers’ meeting (prior to slow run). Host club may decide to have a drive around to save time, if this is the case a walk around may be performed before gates open to the public for any drivers who wish to participate.(16)
  • Slow run to be driven in any truck by a non-racer and a host club member as the navigator.
  • Stop watches- there must be 2 stop watches at the start line of each slalom run to be used as a backup in case of timer failure.

 

Penalties for Misconduct

  • Minor- reprimand and loss of point for that particular run, not the whole day.
  • Major- loss of points for the whole event.
  • Alcohol- must be announced at each drivers meeting that there will be a zero tolerance for drugs and alcohol for all drivers, navigators and track officials. If this is not abided by, person will be disqualified for the whole day.
